Frequently Asked Questions
Are there Ways to Refine my Searches in Google?
These Google tips work on all search engines:
- You can search for an exact phrase by using quotes.
Example: “Boats for Sale“ will return results that only have that exact phrase in the web pages.
- You can use a Plus sign to weight keywords.
Example: +Austin
Put it together for: “Boats for Sale“ +Austin
- You can use a minus sign to exclude words.
Example: -Travis
Put it together for: “Boats for Sale“ +Austin -"lake Travis"
This will return results that have
boats for sale in Austin but not
on lake Travis.
- You can search for just the titles of web pages.
Example: intitle:Boats will return results with the Boats in the title of the web page, not in the web page itself.
- You can search an entire website for a unique word or phrase.
Example: “google tips” site:www.softinsite.com will return pages on www.softinsite.com that have the exact phrase "google tips"
